Tim, You did not mention where you live (US?) and where this machine comes from. From earlier posts I understand that in the early days the floppy drives were mains-frequency dependent. This means if you live in Europe, you had 50 Hz drives and for the US and Canada you had 60 Hz drives. They may be spinning too fast or too slow, depending on where you are and the origin of the machine.
