We talk about the samples of the fairlight but I find discussions about the additive synthesis side to be much more seldom. 1. Can some one post some examples of the a-synthesis capablities of the fairlight? 2. Can some one tell us whether the additive synthesis was 8 bit as well or was it higher then the samples DAC? 3. Can some one tell us if there is anything out there today that can closely appromixmate the A-synthesis sounds? For instance I know that Yamaha DX7 used 12 bit DAC convertors, so it was not as warm as the fairlight but is dx7 FM close to the sound? 4. I've messed around with ADSYNDX, an additive synthesis program online-it sounds good but not as warm and big as the fairlight sounds I've heard using additive. In fact, it seems the envelopes on the Fairlight Additive stuff were very fast. Basically does anyone know of any other 8 bit digital synths in that era-FM, or anything else?
