Re: [Fairlight-CMI] Sound Character Comparion between 8bit (II/IIx) and 16bit (III)

Hi,
I like the IIX much more than the III. It sounds more "analog".

Hi

I always get fascinated how the quantisation (anti-aliasing) of lower
bit-resolution samplers give the personality of its sound. (I
understand bitrate is not the only factor). But if one can compare
(II/IIx) and (III) based on its resolution. Does it make a difference
to its sound, let say, if we playing the same sample?

If there are differences beyond that fact, would that be due to the
difference in its analog filter (if there is a difference)?

The reason I ask is because I am looking into acquiring a fairlight,
and I'd like to find out the sound characteristics, beyond the kind of
hardware/software specs.

Thanks in advance.

Paul
