Re: IIx CRT replacement

2009-02-24 by tama_rat

I had a request for information on where I purchased my replacement
tube, so here it is:

I bought it from VDC (Video Display Corporation) in Tucker, GA, USA.
Their phone # is 770-938-2080, and their website is at:

http://www.videodisplay.com/

I called them and asked if they had a Philips M38-327GH. The woman I
spoke with was able to look up that part, and asked a couple of
questions: "Does that one have a plate on the front?" and "Does it
have reverse-mounted mounting ears?"

I told her it did, and she said that she didn't have that one, but had
a cross-referenced part that should fit but lacked the plate.

It was around $100, so I took a chance and bought it. Their part
number (shown on the invoice) is VDC1501PP31BP. I didn't see any
manufacturer's name or part number on the tube itself.

The neck of the new tube is a little longer than the original, but it
still fit fine. I was able to seat it a little further into the front
panel of the monitor than the original.

Hope that helps anyone else looking to do this -- let me know if I can
provide any more info.

Joe
