So are PPG wave's, Waldorf Microwave, Prophet VS
not hybrid?
Translated to samplers, I call a sampler hybrid if
it has an analogue type of filtering after the DA conversion is done.
Many vintage samplers have an extensive VCF (with resonance and many other
parameters, like an ENV etc.) and are basicly a synthesizer that uses
samples as waveforms.
Modern samplers do all filtering in the digital
domain and are not hybrids............
The VCF on the CMI is realtime controlable. It's
not as elaborated as filters in many other samplers, but it's still a VCF and
that makes it a hybrid in my book........ The CMI has fantastic digital
ways to dynamicly change sounds. It doesn't need an extensive VCF ;to
do this.
Where does it say that the VCF in the CMI is only
there to filter out alisasing distortion?
:P back at ya

Your logic is flawed sir! ;) The IIx
filter is to reduce aliasing distortion, that is an integral part of any DA. It
was cool that the CMI let you adjust it, but that does not make it a hybrid even
in the broadest sense of the word. :p
