That's ridiculous; I've had a Fairlight shipped from the US to Germany for
around $350. This might have been a couple of years ago but even today I
wouldn't expect to pay more than the equivalent of roughly $800 or so. I
had a Fender Rhodes Suitcase shipped last year which cost me about $700 for
shipping costs including packing and crating.
So I suggest you look around for some other international movers.
