oh hey Peter, Elan here, I bought the fairlight from you..

yes well that's what I was thinking, Im trying to slave the machine from my midi sequencer (akai ASQ 10) and it does have smpte out. I guess Ill just try it and see.  so what you are saying is it will sync but it won't receive a start signal from my sequencer if I have to restart it?

In the old days, we "striped" (recorded) code on track 24 on the 2" tape, (which the IIX can generate). Then you just set up the RS page to chase sync SMPTE. For younger persons reading, the "chase" allowed you to drop in anywhere in the song, and within a few milliseconds the CMI would know where it was. Previous to this, you had to run from the top of the song everytime - even if you were working on the  4 outro bars!
