In reply to message from jbemond@free.fr The bottom line, it seems to me, is that none of us can assess Eric's comments because UVI removed them, therefore stifling informed and democratic debate. If Eric's comments weren't justified, what were UVI so afraid of? And if they were justified, removing them is inappropriate. I agree with Eric that selectively filtering the comments creates an untrue image of responses to their product. For the record, I've responded many times in the past to people who've criticised software emulations unfairly. But other companies allow the unfair comments to stand and be responded to. That's the sensible, balanced attitude to the situation, and it's in accord with the free speech principles of the Internet. I don't know what Eric said. I don't know if I would have agreed or disagreed. But he had a right to say it and I object both to the removal of his comments and the consequent removal of my opportunity to make my own mind up about what was being said. ----- Original Message ----- From: jbemond@free.fr > And your argument "I'm a pro so I know everything" is totally ridiculous ! Did Eric actually say this, or is it your summary of his comments? And again, if UVI hadn't removed his comments, we could assess them objectively. UVI removed the possibility of that happening. I agree with your comments about who the Darklight is aimed at. But the real question is whether they've created a genuine Fairlight emulation or just a sample player with some editing capabilities that pretends to be an emulation. If it's what it claims to be in their over-hyped and dreadful sounding video, then why are they so afraid of people reading Eric's comments and being able to make their own minds up?
