RE: [Fairlight-CMI] YD-180 vs YD-174 drive

2014-02-02 by Steve Rance

I’m willing to be corrected here as I’m only a software dude J

From memory the motors in the YD-174’s are powered by 120v, and there was no option on the drives themselves to run them at 240v, so two were required to work with 240v. (in series)

So, first you need to check if your MainFrame has the 120/240v cables pre-wired.

Then someone else will have to confirm if a single YD-174 can be used when being used with 240v or you will need a step down transformer.

Good luck

Subject: [Fairlight-CMI] YD-180 vs YD-174 drive

Hello everybody,

I have one question, maybe someone can quickly reply (because time is
running out):

In my IIx are two YD-180 drives installed. One of them has reading problems.

Tony has slaughtered his CMI and put his drives on ebay as we all know.

My question is: Can I combine one working YD-174 and one YD-180 to
make a complete running system, or is there any significant
difference between them that would make it impossible or difficult ?

Thanks for any help

Roland
