Hi again Laurent
I don't like to bug you again and again. I just want to make backup copies of my existing HD's before they'll eventually fail. You mentioned a program that I need to format a rev6.03 CMI 3 HD which is not delivered for the standard CMI. Can you tell me where I might find that program and is it for the CMI or a computer?
I've bought identical HD's to the one functioning external drive I have but the CMI doesn't recognize any of them (I use format /c600 and I get the error #222 drive not found). When I hook the drives I want to format up to a computer, the drive id is 6 and everything is fine. So the HD's are OK.
Best regards
Brian

Hi Brian,

To format a HD on a rev6.03 CMI 3, you need a program to format and
partition it which is not delivered in standard. Even though you would
have a formatted rev6.03 HD, you would need to boot on a floppy to
restore the tapes into the /k* partitions...

Hope it helps.

Laurent.

Hi Brian,

I'm sorry I don't have the utils to format HDs with my rev6.03 ...

However, I'm surprised you're able to use these HD with a
computer... I tryed to connect mine (Maxtor XT1140) to
my computers and had some SCSI bus errors... What models
do you have ? Which model of Adaptec converter board do
you use ?

Best regards.

    Laurent.
