Synclavier

2003-10-02 by Peter Connelly (Core Design Ltd.)

Hi,

With regard to Laurent's previous post, I'm quite interested in buying the
Synclavier advertised on eBay...

Does anyone have any experience using these machines? Are Synclaviers rock
solid, like the Fairlight? I haven't a clue of the various specs either, so
wouldn't know how good of a system this one actually is.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,
Peter

I thought about that, too.

Yes, the Synclaviers have a very good reputation. The whole operation is a
bit different, though. It's not mostly menu-driven like the Fairlight; and
you can do a lot more things from the Synclavier keyboard itself.

I own a much older and smaller Synclavier and I think the price for that
one machine on ebay is quite reasonable (there's another one for $8000
right now).

What makes that machine really special is the 32 FM voices (which sound
very good); that's something you don't find in the Fairlight.
