New Fairlight CMI IIx owner in town

2008-03-18 by greghavok

Hello everyone, I'm a proud Fairlight CMI IIx owner since 50 days ago
and loving every sec of it :) More details on my personal affair with
the Fairlight before the end of the week.

It turns out my Fairlight wasn't exactly "well preserved" when I
acquired it and needed a bit of restoration though it was mostly
aesthetic. Nevermind that, every single disk containing the original
sample library is damaged beyond hope, except perhaps the second one
which can be partially read every now and then. I suppose the only
reason the disk containing the actual Fairlight software survived
intact was the fact that it was kept in the floppy drive from the
very day the tower was left abandoned with the rest of the instrument
apparently back in 1992 (sad story)

Question is, can any of you Fairlight fellows rip the original sample
library and share it with me? all I managed to get my hands onto was
a couple of CD's with "samples of the samples" in redbook and wav
formats, which quite obviously the Fairlight can't handle.

I already have everything ready to transfer the files to a set of
freshly formatted 8" diskettes which also costed me a lil fortune ;)

Best regards.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
