Hi Karel,
I've not used a router myself yet, but just to clear some of the other points,
If you use the 16 balanced outputs, they are momophonic, so if you want a string sound using 6 voices it will use 6 physical outputs.
To create multi-timbral setups, you have to create an instrument per timbre (voice), so, type IC (instrument create) If you are in the SC page (system configuration or F2)you will see the instruments appear as you type IC.
Normally If i'm starting a new project, I just create 16 instruments (type IC 16 times and you will see them appear in F2) Instrument 1 will be on midi channel 1 and so on although I think you can re-assign the channels if you need to. To assign the audio outs per instrument, again stay on the SC page and the bottom row of tab options shows output grid assignment (F2) if you can't see these options for SC, press ESC. Once you have created the 'System', select the top one, you are now ready to load a voice into it.
Press 'ESC', hit F15 (Directory) select a sound from the library ,hit load (F5), do the same for each instrument to creat a setup for voice assigment. Once you have created a system you will need to name and save it (type sys,it will ask if you want to save)
As far as I know the 24 ch Router allows polyphonic outs for a single output so may be worth pursueing this,it obviously gives you much more flexibility.
Just for the record heres a basic description of the voice architecture
subvoice = a single sample
voice = a collection of subvoices (multisamples/filtering/pitch)
instrument = voice configuration (i.e. midi ch/output assignment/pitch)
system = a collection of instruments (multitimbral setup)
Also, any other users please correct me if I'm wrong with this advice...
cheers Tony
