Fairlight-CMI

Hello,

Currently, cmios9 does not support the FLFS disk format (“Fairlight Filesystem”). FLFS is used on MFX3plus machines for disks >4GB. (Note: FLFS is related to NTFS, but not 100% compatible. By some modifications in the disk boot block etc. it might be possible to make it mountable as NTFS on a regular PC.)

So I decided to write a simple read-only tool to read FLFS disks in order to list directories, analyze files, export files, and convert MT-files into multiple WAVs:

It is a simple command-line program and still very limited/buggy. (See the README.txt for available commands.) Please let me know if it works with your disks and if you encounter any problems.

Hi Michael,

that's good news. It's great to have a possibility to work with SCSI directly thru Windows API similar to cmios9 can. Does it have support for long names and file names with special characters? Obvious example is spaces in a file name. I had experience in the past with MDR partition read in cmios9 but ended up coping files inside mfx due. I was in the rush at that time to write about that, so, just now recalled it my mind.

Have you considered adapting NTFS-3G to work with FLFS?

For those who are interested in the "flfs" utility (http://sourceforge.net/projects/flfs/): I have just released a new version (flfs-0.7) which fixes some bugs and offers tar-file export of directory trees.
