Does anyone know of where I can find replacement key assemblies for
a IIx qwerty keyboard my 123qwb letters are all out and will not

that the problem is in the assemblies. any help would be greatly
appriciated.

CMI IIx Screen unreadable - what to do?

2004-01-02 by Hermann Seib

Hi All,

I've got a slightly problematic CMI IIx here - well, I bought it
defective quite some time ago. Things have changed a lot since that -
thanks to Alexander Guelfenburg of Virtual Music
(http://members.aon.at/virtual-music/e_index.htm if you're interested),
the base unit works now... next on the list is the screen. Don't know
what happened to it, but somewhere between the protective screen in
front and the actual glass of the VDU there's something that looks...
well, crumbled, rotten; something like that.

I've heard that this is a common phenomenon on these screens, but my one
is really bad - it's practically unreadable in some areas (and the light
pen won't see anything there). A picture is here:

Does anybody know how to cure this problem? Or, alternatively, does
anybody know where to get a matching replacement part?

Thank you,

  Hermann

Hi Hermann,

Yes,this is a very common problem with old screens. Many CMI 11X systems
will have the same screen fault. There is a lamanent material which was put
inside the screen as a coating. Over the years this will slowly bubble and
peel. I am looking into seeing if it is possible to get my screen
reconditioned. I will inform the group when I get any news. Yes, I found
Alexander at Virtual Music to be extremely helpful indeed.
It would be nice to see him on this group. Have you told him about it ?
Good Luck !

Regards,

Hermann,

I don't if these folks can help as I've never contacted them but I
came across their website and thought it might be worth checking out.

Hawk-Eye Picture Tube

They're in the USA.

Good luck.
