Series II spares needed

Series II spares needed

2004-01-05 by Tim Curtis

Hi Everyone -

Okay, so I've motivated myself... ;-)

I've decided to get this (either 2L or 3L - can't read the faded marker)
motherboard into a chassis and running. Shouldn't be too tough of a
project, but I'm going to need a few spares in addition, starting with a
Series II Power Supply.

Anyone got a good stash of spare parts available? It would be really
cool to recreate the original one.

I'm in the US near Milwaukee, so of course shipping from long distances
might get a *little* high...

Thanks,

Tim

Tim,

Peter Wielk on his Web site, http://www.horizontal.co.uk/, says:

In 1985, huge technological advances had been
made in the computer industry worldwide, and
developement began on a 16-bit machine utilising
hard disc storage, rather than the twin floppy drives.
These units originally had all the new hardware crammed
into a series IIx mainframe, and were called IIIL, but
this model was quickly superceeded in 1985 by the
series III. There were probably only about 10 IIILs
made, and most of these were used as development
  machines in the factory.

So, the 4 slots for voice cards would presumably expect SIII stereo
cards.

Hi Greg -

You're correct - they're labeled so on the back of the board. 4 CMI-31
Channel Cards and 5 CMI-39 Waveforem Memory Cards.

If I get a chance I'll get a pic of the Motherboard for anyone who's
interested.

Tim
