OT - Sound Card

OT - Sound Card

2004-03-22 by Peter Connelly (Core Design Ltd.)

Can anyone recommend a decent sound card for my PC running Win XP (Pro). I have been looking at the M-Audio 410 (Fire Wire) or Delta 1010 (but believe the 1010s are VERY noisy).

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated, as usual :-)

Cheers,
Peter

Hi there,

I dont think it what you are looking for, but if you have a digital
mixer cample of T/dif interfacing, I have found the Tascam PCI-822 to
work perfectly, although is locked at 44.1 /48khz.

Hi Peter,

I have two Delta 1010's (1 1010, 1 1010-LT)
I've never encountered any noise issues, but actually they
have worked flawlessly for me. I have them in 2 PC's running XP Pro.
I've also installed the Delta Audiophile 24/96 in friend's PC's
and they are a good card too (same Envy24 chip) for the buck.
Their ASIO drivers and DirectX drivers are working nicely.

I think the Envy24 is a great PCI AD/DA chip, VIA bought them
and some motherboards are using variations of the Envy24 chip
for on-board PCI sound.

but just my 2 cents and my disclaimer that your mileage may
vary ... :-)

Dave

SV: [Fairlight-CMI] OT - Sound Card

2004-03-22 by Klaus Poulsen

Hi Peter

Before I bought my digital mixer, I tried Edirol UA1000 (8 IN/OUT 24 bit and up to 96 Khz Samplingrate). They have made a new firewire-model with 192 KHz sampling-rate to about half the price (in Denmark). It should be great and affordable. Try it out.

Sincerely

Klaus
