lightpen IIx

lightpen IIx

2004-03-24 by pescoyez

Hi there

Currently restoring a Cmi Fairlight IIx, the one from Talk Talk
actually. We still have issues using and testing the lightpen. When
we open it it works more or less, but when we put back the cover of
the pen it doesn't work at all. It seems that it's a well known
problem difficult to solve.

Anyway, anyone in the group having some reference or ressources to
repair or get a new lightpen somewhere in the world?

Thanks in advance

Pascal

Hello Pascal,

well, you are a lucky guy to have that IIx from Talk Talk.

please let us Fairlighter's know how the samples from Talk Talk's
albums sound. I heard that IIx sold with library disks from the
Colour Of Spring album (a great CD).

The greedy side of me must ask, can you by chance copy those sample
floppies to someone's Series III HD so we can have a listen ?
I'd ship a SCSI HD or WORM to get that library copied.

can you post photos on the site here of the famous IIx from
Talk Talk ?

wish I could help on the lightpen, but I have a Series III.

cheers,
David

Hi Pascal,

this is a very good idea from David ! I´ve got a IIx and I would love
to listen to the Talk Talk sound.
For your problem: you can contact http://www.touched-by-sound.com
They are very good in repairing thinks like that. I had problems with
my IIx when I bought it but after TBS fix it I had no more problems.

All the best,

Marc
