OT p.c.b. etching

Does anyone here do electronics etc as an hobby and do pcb's, not that
owning an xm gives time for an hobby.............

I need to get a 2inch*2.5inch board done, about 10 times.

If you need 10 some pro PCB service like futurlec could well be reasonably
priced. The more you need the cheaper it gets per board.

If it isn't too complicated (not too many holes to drill etc.) send me a
picture and i can tell you for what i'd make them. I need to make a couple
of boards in the next few days anyway.

Oh I dont need anything like drilling doing, thats my headache!

Its a prototype for a car alarm for myself and some friends, I've
designed it, wrote the software for it, and I'm going to put it up on
my site as a project for others to build one if they want etc, its
essentially PD hardware, and its development has been 'blogged' on
digital car uk

Just a pic chip and a load of transistors.

The very first TT board I did came out like this.....

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tinabriddon/bday/DSC00465.JPG

Its spot on, but I have not had a working one since!

And these ones are a 1/4 of the size of that one, look!

This is my headache...

Still can't understand how you ended up with that heap of half-done boards
there ;-)

10 of them, drilled, professionally done by futurlec cost only 40USD.
Thats $4 a board.
I recommend you simply order them there.
If for some unfathomable reason you don't want professionally made boards
at this incredible price I can offer to do them for the same, but without
drilling. Surely you would have to be crazy (you might be for all I know,
if you really think your wife isn't going to suss out the blackpool thing
as soon as you suggest as much as going away ;-) ).

Convenience and speed seems just about the only reason these days to make
your own boards, price certainly isn't.

Wondered how you knew, I know she has spies everywhere when I mention
cars, then realized I'd posted it in the wrong group!
Doh!

I just had an idea to get me this batch done, and then the next ones
will be at a later date by which time I may have a working system....

The ols artist method for making 'prints' of a famous pic, trace it,
prick the canvas, join the dots....

I can print it, prick the board, and using the worlds best resist pen
(uniball paint pen px203), join the dots and etch.

It wont be a fast way, but maybe I can get the wife to help.....yeah sure!

I made PCBs like that, 30 years ago, using cellulose paint as resist. I got
quite good at it, and even managed double-sided boards.

Have a look at ebay item 7555760923 or 290077371461. They are offering
fairly cheap manufacturing services. It saves a lot of grief and you end
up with professional looking boards.
