First experiment

2009-04-16 by Alessio Sangalli

Hi I made my first PCB since I moved to USA.

The HP paper is good, the laminator I have bought is very, very good! I
am so satisfied.

Then I tried to etch with H2O2 + muriatic acid. I have a tank that
"bubbles" air. I have not used the heater.

Time: 4.00 minutes the board is ready. It is true this first board has
only thick traces, but the result is very good.

The only problem is that, after rinsing the board, I use some acetone to
remove the toner. It goes instantly but doing so it makes the PCB
"dirty", darker as it should be.

Any hint?

I have prepared a checklist with the tools and the step for the process.
I think I will take pictures next time and put together a small website.

bye
Alessio

Hi! What laminator did you buy and are you using 1/32" or 1/16" thick boards?
I am looking to buy a laminator but I am hoping some one could make valid recomendations based onthier expierience with
that model..

regards

Mike

Hi. I managed to get myself a GBC Heatseal H535 Laminator off ebay relatively cheap. Checking the manual it says it can handle thickness up to 2.5mm. It has temperature control and does up to A3 which is just crazy. Anyway, the GBC range seem to be pretty cool from what I can gather. I am more than impressed with mine.

Oh it's a GBC "personal laminator" I have bought online... I cannot find
where I bought it! I will look again over the weekend for the receipts.

It's great, it works really well.

The PCBs I am using right now are 1.5mm thick; that should be 1/16 of an
inch?
