LOL, well that too! They do have the "3 am automatic maintence" but maybe 
you're right - they should have something that checks permissions automatically 
after every install and flags the need to repair permissions or just repairs 
them as part of any install.   I have gleaned what I can from reading magazine 
articles in Macworld and Photoshop user (which takes Mac maintence more 
seriously than any music magazine I've seen) and from various elists. You have to be 
a detective just to know how to keep your machine up and running.

Of course you can get G5 for a megabit G4 as a node. However, I saw an 
article in Sound on Sound or Computer Music a few months ago about hooking up 
multiple computers. I forgot the details. If I find it, I'll report what I can find.
