its not trivial at all to get things together. I think you need to make some sort of scratch track with or without a beat. Then use that to find or make an appropriate beat and get the tempo and timing. Then go back and record it for real.

However, its easier to just record to kick drum beats on every quarter note, and keep a steady tempo. then perhaps later shift the speed up a little bit.

then add other tracks. and then consider dropping out your original good guitar track at places or entirely or not at all.
