Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

I've got some hammer dulcimer samples that I want to use as an EXS24  
instrument.   In terms of playability, I'm wondering what y'all  
suggest for mapping the strums.  I have up and down strums for major  
and minor chords, as in:

A Up
A Down
Am Up
Am Down

It makes sense to use one end of the keyboard map for major and  
another for minor, but what do I do with the up and down strums?  It  
seems mapping them to different octaves would make it impossible to  
play a realistic strumming pattern.

Any thoughts?
