I have done this with podcasts before, and found the best method is
splitting with locators, deleting the audio you don't want then shifting it
back together - this method doesn't require reprocessing of the audio
either.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
