Aha. Found it. I had looked up "Tie Regions" in the manual, and was
presented with only 2 options:

Being more of a manual reader than "trial and error" kind of guy, I
assumed that those were my only options. So after going back to the
manual to prove Greg wrong, I on a whim looked at the menu options in
Logic and saw the one not mentioned in this section of the manual -
"Tie Regions by Position Change." That's exactly what I wanted.

Andrew, I couldn't tell from your email what method you are using to
"shift the audio back together," but if you're not already using this
menu option, it may be the way to go for you as well.

Moral of this story? Never read the manual

just kdding - Apple's manual is actually exceptionally well-written
and very helpful. It's very "Apple," however, in that it is very
"biased" towards their pre-conceived notions of how we all use their
products. This is a prime example. "Tie Regions" by length an w/in
locators are in a section titled: Moving Regions. Tie by Position,
however, is mentioned only once, 6 pages later, in a section titled:
Adding or Removing Song Passages. Emagic's manual, for all its
horrible indexing, awkward phrasing, and complete omissions, always
seems to be aware of the multitude of ways Logic's functions could be
conceived and used.

Thanks for the help,

Gregory
