In Sibelius it is pretty quick. There are keyboard shortcuts but
using a mouse (the longest process for many of us) you just...
1/ Highlight the note/position you wish the tempo to start at
2/ Mouse select Create | Text | Metronome
mark (keyboard shortcut Option+Command+T
(on a MAC))
3/ Right mouse click (or type tempo the info you want)
4/ Pop up menu appears.. you select the note value (the symbol) ala
quartet note (Crotchet)
then type = and then type the BPM ala 120 and wham it is
done.
There are also keywords you can type instead ala "andante" etc which
have preset default BPM but I nearly always write mine our as above
because it is clearer when reading...
Seems long but in reality is only a couple of key strokes and a
number...
