Re: [Logic_Cafe] sheet music

2008-09-22 by Tim McLane

I just remember that the big issue in all of these programs is once the note has already been entered, how easy is it to change? In Print music, it's very cumbersone, whereas in Logic, it's very easy. I have been doing things in Logic, converting to MIDI files and importing to Finale. But, if anything goes wrong or needs to be fixed, it's complicated.

In Sibelius it is pretty quick. There are keyboard shortcuts but
using a mouse (the longest process for many of us) you just...

1/ Highlight the note/position you wish the tempo to start at
2/ Mouse select Create | Text | Metronome
  mark (keyboard shortcut Option+Command+T
  (on a MAC))
3/ Right mouse click (or type tempo the info you want)
4/ Pop up menu appears.. you select the note value (the symbol) ala
  quartet note (Crotchet)
then type = and then type the BPM ala 120 and wham it is
  done.

There are also keywords you can type instead ala "andante" etc which
have preset default BPM but I nearly always write mine our as above
because it is clearer when reading...

Seems long but in reality is only a couple of key strokes and a
  number...
