Re: [Logic_Cafe] Re: sheet music

2008-09-24 by Tim McLane

Whoa Greg! You are always so practical!

I transcribe by ear. I worked in a record company in the 70s as an intern under the orchestrator of the Lassie Show (Bob Porter) who could write arrangements for a full orchestra very quickly. Apparently, it is a lost art.

In response to Greg's suggestions (see below): Absolutely! Either play to a click, drum loop or something that indicates time, (could be real drums, etc.) and tune to standard pitch.

I certainly could give each person a MIDI file of their song which they could then import into their systems.

How do you go about transcribing?

i would suggest that you ask that they play to a click track, drum loop, or
metronome, and tune to standard pitch.

It seems that once you have gone to the trouble of transcribing the song, you
could also give them a midi file of their song which they could import into
logic, to make a fuller arrangement.
