better to copyright a group of songs, or an album, because its
cheaper. So until I have enough songs to complete an album, I also
want to protect each song I submit.

I'm no expert, but I do teach a college songwriting class.

IMO, don't waste money on:

1. Library of Congress (better uses for your money)

2. Mailing it to yourself (won't hold up in court)

All you need for proof of creation is

© 2008 Your Name + plus a witness to verify it's your work

This is all that is needed for court, should the need arise.

Meantime, it's more about getting it to the right people. AND, should
it get picked up and recorded, consider going ahead and registering it
w/ ASCAP or BMI (for airplay) or CCLI for church needs.

Hope this helps.
