compressor plugin can make it sound like it sustains a little more by slowing 
the release. you can also   add reverb although thats not a good solution. 
doesn't logic have an envelope plugin that slows the attack? its not easy to do 
exactly what you asked for though. i guess you could convert audio to midi, 
then copy the midi to a track with the EXS24 and a cello patch.
