Why don't you just insist on a few seconds of silence or cut the mic
inbetween singers. You will later be able to cut the audio easily in
fact you can use Strip Silence. Also have the singer speak their name
before they begin then you have it tied to the recording. You can also
do this yourself using another mic and they would never know.

Subject: [Logic_Cafe] Off topic (sorry) any know any audio shareware
developers?
Hi ladies and gentleman,
Sorry to ask here but I've tried the obvious with no luck! :-(
I want to get software, for mac, that will record audio to mp3,
from
either and internal mic or a USB audio device (I need to be able to
switch) but I need a few little added features , all of which I can
find in different mp3 recorders but not all together in the same one :-(
I need:
1) The ability to name the recording before I start
2) a key command I can hit mid recording that will, in effect, end
that recording and immediately start a new, sequentially numbered one
3) The ability once the recording is done to either send to
something
to burn as audio or to ftp to a server
4) Some kind of audio input monitoring, preferably with an overload
warning in case the record levels are clipping
In case you are wondering, my "other job" is as a singing teacher (I
have a few teachers that work for me too) and we record pupils lessons
for them to practice stuff at home. Currently we use tascam mp3
recorders, then transfer to macs to burn.
The ability to split the lessons on the fly would make it easy to make
different exercises, different tracks on a CD (we don't have time to
post edit) and the FTP thing is because I'm starting to hate CD's.
They all end up in land fills (trash) so I'd rather email the student
a download link from my server and let them stick it straight on their
iPod etc.
I've tried emailing various shareware developers who's products were
close but not quite right, to see if I can pay them to tweak a little
but none even bothered to email back :-((
Does anyone here know an online community or something where I could
post this and people could contact me if they can do it etc?
Many Thanks in advance for your help
