Is there a feature that does this....?

Is there a feature that does this....?

Hi Everybody,

I would love to see logic put a feature in that allows you to copy an audio track in the arrange
page with a special key command (eg... shift+Alt and drag) that creates a back up of the
audio file and places it in the audio window in the same move rather than just creating a
ghost copy like the usual alt and drag... or having to double click on the audio file and 'create
back up' which doesn't then automatically place it in the audio window... am i missing
something or would that be the easiest way to 'play around' with different audio parts??
i know that 'save audio as..' sort of achieves it but still one click and drag would be brilliant!!

if anyone knows of a way then feel free to make me look really small!!

kato :)

There is a slightly indirect way you can do this now. If you take two or more audio files you can use a key command for merge or use the glue tool and that will create a new audio file. You could either make two copies of the same original audio, or else make tiny audio file with silence to tack on to the end, and keep that in your autoload. Then glue them together, you get a new audio file. Then you cut off the excess or resize. Actually I have gotten into the habit of always doing this anyway - recording half a bar before and after - then snipping them off later. This is because Logic sometimes doesn't clear the buffers from a previous take so you hear something at the start of the recording, and also there might be some issues with when the note starts and tails at the end. So I snip off the ends, then open the sample editor, and slide the selected region down so that the beats starts right on the money sample accurately.

In the local audio menu in Arrange there is a "Turn region to
individual audio" or something like this. I think you can do it via a
key command. Soooo...

I would copy the region just like normal - option drag or option shift
drag (alias) and then invoke the previous mentioned command. I reckon
that would take about 2 seconds and would leave the new audio file in
place in the arrange window as required....

Pretty cool idea.. the key comand for merge is just 'j' so that'd work quite easilly! Cheers. :)

Yeah, that works... but it still made me think (i even tried it but it doesn't work) that you
could press ctrl+alt+f and drag and that would do the same thing in one move... maybe i
should be less lazy!
