ultrabeat step sequencer...

ultrabeat step sequencer...

2005-07-28 by Brutal Organisation

Afternoon all,
i understand with the 7.1 update you are s'posed to be able to drag the step sequencer as midi data into the arange, the update info is a bit vague (or i am a bit thick) i have tried to drag it from everywhere but it doesn't seem to want to work.
has anyone managed this sucessfully?

Yeah I did it and it worked fine. I forgot what I did and I don't have logic on this computer, but it worked pretty nicely. I don't use UB very much though. It just sounds a bit wimpy to me.

I know the idea of UB was to be like Idrum or Reason with builtin easy-to-use sequencers. But I think Logic should have just created a new editor - like a matrix editors but more of a step sequence editor. One thing I like about Idrum is being able to create a roll with one slide of my finger, or see and adjust velocities. But it seems a bit awkward to back and forth from midi to that in UB.

to be honest i'm not too keen on UB either, and i really dont like using it with the matrix, do you rate Idrum then? what about battery? herd some good things about both?

Actually Battery is my main drum thing. its punchy - Especially since
Battery 2 where the made the file system much better. B2 also has built
compression and fx for each of 72 hits which is nice.

Right now iDrum seems to be crashing AU validation, although I used in
in Logic some time ago. It works a bit like UltraBeat in that it has
its own sequences. But the nice thing about Idrum is that you can use
it stand alone and work on beats, then export as AIFF, or midi or both.
Its concievable to reconstruct the same kit in Battery although you'd
have to do it sample by sample.

i do have UB set up in my auto load with just a kick drum, to act as a
metronome of sorts.
