C3 or C5

C3 or C5

2006-02-05 by rec

Greetings,

What do you folks use to label middle C? I do know that in MIDI, note 60 is
middle C (261.626 Hz), I'm just not sure how Garage Band or Logic defines
note 60 as C3 or C5. Is there a user option to set it in GB or LP7?

Another fake one, do you have fun?
There's nothing like a referrence point to a non-pitched instrument.
Middle C is 1st one left to the lock

there is a preference in LP for C3 or C4 - one of them being a Yamaha standard.

Middle C is perfectly well defined, in tonal frequency and in MIDI
(although depending on the instrument and sound used, middle C will
often not be 261.626Hz but that's beside the point). As stated, it is
note number 60. His question was whether Logic calls this note number
C3 (and starts numbering at C-2) or C5 (and starts numbering at C0).

Sounds like a perfectly sensible question to me, and if I had Logic
at hand right now, I'd check it to give you a more useful answer. :o)
