I'm Considering the 7.2 Upgrade (this week for a session)

2006-10-02 by pete_buchwald

Hey Guys,

I have one of the new MacBook laptops. It has Logic 7.1 in it now, though I haven't
used it extensively. It doesn't seem to get along with my MBox 1. Digi/Avid and Mac are
turning into Hatfields and McCoys I think.

Have people tested the waters for using 7.2 with the new intel chip? How has it gone?

        Thanks!

           Pete

If you are using a Macbook then Logic is running in Rosetta emulation
in 7.1. Its amazing it works at all. Get the 7.2 update. I don't know
about digi stuff or m-box but you need universal Binaries of the
drivers for them to work Im sure. These are all downloadable updates
freely available online.

There has been a bit of history of Protools hardware not working well with
Logic. I had a digi Audio Media III card for a few years without incident, so I
tried to upgrade to the Mbox but couldnt get it to work with Logic. I
contacted Zzounds and they gave me a full refund and said there has been other
complaints of a similar nature, although I think some people may have gotten them to
work.

Installed 7.2.2 on my macbook. It's just night and day difference.
Apple made it clear from the very beginning that none of their audio
apps were running in rosetta mode, and now I can see the
improvements, I understand why!! My macbook is running better in
logic pro and its softsynths than my previous G5 2X2, can you believe
it??

Whatever happend to the days of OS 9.2 when plug and play was really plug and
play.......i find myself saying, am i on a mac or a pc ?

Good luck. I'm running logic 7.1.1 and i'm not moving. i have too much at at
stake time wise and in the middle of mixes. i can't afford to take the time to
figure out the problems apple keeps creating. But if there's anything i can
offer in my experience i will. I am running a motu 828 mk II which for me has
been pretty stable. My problems are coming from within logic.
