cleanup badly recorded audio

cleanup badly recorded audio

2007-03-28 by GAmoore@aol.com

I recorded a live band with my ipod and imic. Its sounds ok when its just
guitar or talking, but as soon as the bass kicks in, it swamps the entire sound
so it sounds pretty much like garbage. It seems the mic is bass sensitive and
compresses the audio so the bass overwhelms everything else. I looked at the
frequency response in Logic, and it was pretty much a diagonal line with high
bass going down to nothing above 4k. I tried EQing subtlely but it was only
marginal improvement. I kind of assume the whole thing is a waste unless someone
has some idea on how to clean it up. Any ideas?
