Music Beds?

I'm installing 8 today, and am trimming all the stuff I don't need from the installation. What are "music beds"? They are 5 gigs. They're not mentioned in the index of the manual. Also, "sound effects" are 15.5 gigs. I already have a bunch of sound effect instruments from Logic 7.2. Is there additional content here? I have all my audio files on my external FW drive, so don't want to install anything that I already have. Thanks, Gregory
