PCI?

PCI?

2008-01-17 by Gregory Anderson

I'm curious about the state of PCI on the Mac. I've got the quad pro
with its newfangled PCI slots, but all the PCI audio interfaces
available just say "PCI." So are all PCI audio interfaces for the
original style/size and won't work on new Macs?

Yeah they won't work. I sold my G5 and sold the UAudio board with it, then
bought the intel mac, and got a new UAudio board to fit the new type of PCI
configuration.

OK, I see now that the more expensive units ARE available in PCI-
express (MOTU, RME, UA, Apogee, Digidesign), they're just lumped in
with regular PCI on retailer websites. So the low end (M-Audio,
Echo, EMU) is either abandoning PCI or marketing to PC users I guess.
