It never fails: Apple has a habit of coming out with something new
right after I've purchased one of their products. I just purchased a
new 24" iMac about a month ago. Same thing happened with one of my
ipods. If I had waited a few days, I could have had the one I got for
about half the price, or I could have gotten the new one at the same
price I paid for the old one.

I had the same experience a few years ago, but I walked into an Apple store and told them I wanted to trade in my "New Powerbook" for the NEWER one that just came out.
Guess what...? THEY DID.
Not saying they will accept month old macs in every instance, but they did with my old powerbook. I got a new model 3 and a half weeks after the NEWER one came out...

Might be worth a phone call or a visit to your local Apple store.

This situation happens to all of us. The only remedy seems to be to
wait until the new products come out, and then buy the old one heavily
discounted. So just be patient. Apple has gotten somewhat regular in
their updates and releases. And you can follow the rumor mill to see
when updates are eminent here :

There is quite a bit chatter just before new releases. Evidently there
are some deep sources who give indications which are often correct.
