This is the opposite of what you want to do, but it may be just as convienient, http://www.squest.com/ basically an editor librarian where the midi instruments come up as virtual instruments in the host... Eddie, This looks extremely interesting to me, but does it work with Logic? I can't find a list of applications that are supported. Only Cubase is mentioned in the literature I read. Kamm

The company, or at least a few reps from it, sit and spam members of the Sound Diver group trying to snag some sales whenever someone complains about the lack of Sound Diver communication (really bad business but decided to check it out anyways).. I used to own Midi Quest years ago when I was working on a PC, it was pretty damn handy, until I found Sound Diver which blew it away. Now we can only hope it keeps blowing it away and isnt dead hehe. -- Chris http://www.descentrecords.com

In other words, can I call up a patch using the same method I do now, with the only difference being that SoundDiver puts up a menu that is more organized? That was the intriguing part of Midi Quest. It apparently integrates with the host application. Kamm

The folks from SQ have gotten MidiQuestXL for the Mac to work with FX Expansion's VST-AU Wrapper. Native AU support is planned for the next release : ) Eddie IMS

Under OS X there was something about the way the OS works with memory that wont allow it to work like it used to. FWIW - Sound Diver on OS X is still a beta, and hasnt been updated in quite some time. No ones even sure if its still being developed or not. Shame cause it was a damn fine editor.. -- Chris http://www.descentrecords.com

Thanks to both Chris and Eddie, I'm hoping SoundDiver will be worked into Logic as part of the package rather than as an add on. Or at least something similar to SoundDiver. Until then, once the native AU support is ready, I'll be giving Midi Quest a try. Thanks again! Kamm

I have all my individual banks saved as text files. You just have to grab em from SD, then paste em into the Environment objects.. Havent tried booting into OS 9 to set it up and save the Autoload that was a good idea.. Come to think of it I dont even think I have 9 on my machine anymore hehe. I wanted to ask them about SD at NAMM but the Apple Booth was so damn crowded I couldnt find anyone that wasnt showing off Logic 7 or running a presentation to someone already to ask! -- Chris http://www.descentrecords.com
