There were 32 triumph powered Marcos Mantis plus another 2 before the body moulds were sold to autotune. I own 2 and M Andrews also owns 2.
The triumph engines used were the 1970 tr6 which produced 150 Bhp

Yes indeed, however, only 11 made it into the GT body.....
The engine in my car is a US spec motor, low compression, stromberg
carbs etc, etc, 104bhp, not from the TR6. Wonder how many of the 11
were like this, and how many were full 150bhp fuel injection motors?

Cheers

Andy
I've owned 5916T, since 1973. The only others I know about are: Stephens sold two in the last year and two others were in Europe. Keep me posted on your search!
Thanks

Hi Stephen,

Great to hear from you!
Who is 'Stephens' that you mention - how can I contact him to find
out about these cars???
I have tracked down another one in Denmark, but need to confirm its
identity.
I have found 6 of them now, and more by the day... :)
As soon as I have the definitive list, I'll post it on my webpage.
By the way, did you receive my personal e-mail??
Could you confirm the engine number of your car, and do you have any
more pictures?

Many thanks,

Andy

Mini Marcos 270 DGJ - The Story of a the first Marcos works Mini Marcos race car

2004-12-03 by Andy&Alison Seward

To All,

The story of 270 DGJ, the 1966 Mini Marcos racecar (chassis #7000; this is
the first Mk3 car/ prototype) is now up and online at this link:

http://www.minimarcos.org.uk/sport/mugello/index.html

To proceed, just keeping clicking on the word "next" at the bottom of each
page.

This is a superb story, as told by 270 DGJ's original owner, Mr. William
(Billy) Dulles. Very entertaining and paints a word picture of what it was
like to go racing at the international level in 1966. Wonderful stuff!

270 DGJ is still in the UK. I purchased her this year following a long,
long hunt to locate her. She will soon undergo a full race preparation and
restoration to FIA Appendix K historic racing standards.

Watch this space!

Best Regards,
Andy

Congratulations on your purchase Andy. Thank you also for the link to the story. Quite a story. Wish the history on mine was that thorough!

Thought you might be interrested in this listing on
e-bay item number 4508670091 is a set of carbs for
your 6 banger triumph.  Here is what it says;

'"A complete triple twin choke sidedraft carb
(Dellorto DHLA40's) set up for six cylinder Triumph.
Just the same as Weber's, but many tuners say better
fuel atomisation/mix.

This is just the job for a race/rally/track day or
just fast road Triumph Six............just as used by
the 'Works' in the 60's and 70's.

Taken off Fast road/Rally 2500cc GT6

Not used for some years, and pretty dirty!.......needs
complete overhaul etc, as spindles tight and dust
everywhere!

This lot now would cost something like \ufffd700 -
\ufffd800!!!!! and it is still available.

All there inc alluminium inlet manifolds (SAH) and
linkages, plus chrome(......with some slight
corrosion) filter housings."

bidding is only up to $750 dollars.

Beware Inlets (and inlet manifolds) for us spec engine differs from
british spec engines and are NOT compatible. Been there tried that.
What I ended up doing is installing a british spec engine with PI
from vrom to WROOOMM in 3 months and surprisingly little
hassle.throttle response compared to the triple weberconfig was
greatly enhanced =8) but mpg wasn´t :(
cheers Johan Lundberg formerly 2t 4883 now working on two 1600s for
racing. (is that progress or the opposite?;)
