V6 engine paint color

V6 engine paint color

2005-07-31 by marcos5463

I just pulled the engine (Ford Essex V6) and transmission from my car
3M 5463. Although someone painted the top of the engine Ford blue,
the rest of the block (and under the "new" blue) is black. Can anyone
tell me if the V6 engines left Marcos all black? Or, because of the
history of this car, is it black based on the fact that this was a
replacement engine from Ford of England immediately after it was
delivered to the U.S.?
Thanks,
Hampton Peterson

Mine is Ford blue but it has been rebuilt so I don't know what the original color was. Some of the cars were kits so the donor engine could have been any color. Check with Rory at MHS to get the history on your car.

Mine was a factory installed engine and was black.
as Don says , since most people used donor cars there was no specified
color.
I remember however that at that time the only colors available were black or
that horrible BMC green. I have to talk to Rory in the morning so In will
ask.

Thanks Garry,
It looks like black is correct. At least I have a few cans of
Mercruiser black engine paint sitting around......
