Which jack?

Which jack?

2006-01-18 by Hampton Peterson

Hello all,
Does anyone know what jack is used for the metal chassis cars?
The photos in a couple of the tests of the period show a sissors style
and the jacking points on the frame have a hole in the middle for a
pin (or so it seems). Did Marcos just use one from another car of the
period such as Spitfire? Also, was a tool kit original to the car?
Thanks again,
Hampton Peterson

The original jack for the wooden frame cars came from a Ford Cortina and does have a pin on the jack that fits into a hole in a metal plate slightly forward of the seat pan. I have no idea of what is appropriate for a metal frame car.

Hampton
My metal chassis car a 1971 (#5916) had a scissor style jack with the car when I purchased the car out of storage in Feb. of 1975. I don't know if it is the "Marcos Jack" or not. The jack handle is a rod that folds in 1/2. The car had the original Avon tires so it may not of even been used. I still carry same in the car since it gets the job done when required.
Sorry I can not be of more help.
Thanks

Hampton,

My 1971 (3M5759) is the same as Stephen's.

Hi Everyone,
I am pretty certain that the scissor jack used on the steel frame cars
was from a Ford Cortina. If that is the case I will get a part number if
anyone wants to spring for a new one. Otherwise I will try to find a couple
while I am in the UK and ship in my next container.
