New Marcos owner with a few questions

New Marcos owner with a few questions

2007-09-09 by steve191127

Hi Guys (and gals)

Just yesterday bought a 1995 modified Mantula and drove it 200 mile
home, but being new to this I have a few questions. Its has a 4.5
litre John Eales V8, BW T45 box and IRS - it really moves - fastest
car I have ever had - ex Paul Morris - maybe you know of it/him.

I got a few questions - like it vibrates like hell above 70mph - I am
thinking prop shaft or diff or diff mountings (it has 60,000 on the
clock) - Is this a known problem or one that could be down to the
unusual beastie I have (its got a galvanised chassis, so I hope no rot
and breakage). Some of the old recipts I have suggest this has been a
problem on and off in the past. I'll be under it soon to check.

The brakes are crap - could be blocks of wood in there. Are they
always like this ? Makes my Land Rover feel like a race car.

And which club to join, or not bother and use this group.

I am based in the NW UK - I am open to advice on all fronts,
especially to meet fellow Marcos owners. but I think I am smitten.
This is a fun car, and sounds so good I haven't even checked out the
stereo yet.

Steve

Steve,

Welcome to the group. I think you might find more info on the Mantula on the Marcos Enthusiasts site which is based in the UK:

Free to join up. Enjoy your new toy !!

Don
