Those gray ink limits are compared to a second 21-step test print of the black ink at it's ink limit, which was also determined from the first Calibration Mode print. Most people print a full second Calibration Mode print at this black ink limit. (I use another approach to save some paper. I use a manually-drawn straight line curve to print a separate 21-step test print. You'll see curves like this in my various Profile Zip files, named things like "K-0-45," for example, as the straight line curve that prints the black ink from 0 to an ink limit of 45.)
