I have zero experience with QTR, et al - just learned of it last week, and am waiting to be fully vetted onto this list - but I have decades of Windows experience. If something stops working overnight like that, it is often not the app that has failed, but an underlying component that the app - QTR in this case - needs. The first step in finding these little devils is asking: "What has changed since it worked?" Since this was such a sudden change that question will be easier to answer. If you did nothing in the way of software adds-deletes-updates, then look for things that might have changed by themselves. I'm sure you have tried a reboot, but do a full system shutdown, then power up into Safe Mode. Once Windows is up, shut down fully again. Then do a normal power up and login. Test. (Note my use of the term "shut down" . that is not a reboot J ) Check for updates that were installed and try reversing those, one at a time. Control Panel > Programs and Features, then sort on the Installed On column. Also check the "View Installed Updates" link. If System Restore is enabled, try stepping backward through restore points. (If you are not using System Restore, this won't help for this incident, but I recommend enabling it. And give it a good amount of room to save restore points). Then yesterday (and I know I'm not supposed to write this), it just stopped working -- really, it no longer works. I double click on the icon, it appears briefly on the tool bar and then vanishes. I've tried uninstalling and downloading a fresh copy of both QTR_Setup_2.7.2 and 2.7.0 with the same results. I've even tired to download and install an older version (2.6.2) but the installer says that it "is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer." So I aborted the installation. Does anyone have any thoughts? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
