Stephen, I sent you the photo I was having trouble with to your direct email address. After reading your suggestions I realized the image was converted to greyscale and saved as a Tiff from a Jpg image in "Arcsoft" I tried again in photoshop and it works fine. Nice nuetral greys and Blacks. I then interpolated to 300dpi (from 72dpi)with Genuine Fractels and sharpened with a "NIK" plugin. It still works! Thanks for the clues, they set me straight.
