I just joined and downloaded QTR. After setting up and trying to print my first B&W TIFF to an epson 1280 printer I get ann error message that says "Quadtone RIP front end-Floating point division by zero" when I try to load an image. Any help to suggest what is causing or how to help would be appreciated. Don Frederick

That error indicates some kind of problem with the TIFF file you are trying to print. Some things to look for: The only compression supported is LZW. The file may not be in CMYK mode. That said, you should not be getting the floating point division by zero error. Several people have reported this error, but so far no one has provided me with the image that caused it, so I have not been able to determine the source of the error. If you can supply the image, please contact me off list. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Stephen, I sent you the photo I was having trouble with to your direct email address. After reading your suggestions I realized the image was converted to greyscale and saved as a Tiff from a Jpg image in "Arcsoft" I tried again in photoshop and it works fine. Nice nuetral greys and Blacks. I then interpolated to 300dpi (from 72dpi)with Genuine Fractels and sharpened with a "NIK" plugin. It still works! Thanks for the clues, they set me straight. I have looked at the image you sent. It would appear that "Arcsoft" has not properly filled in two required TIFF parameters: XResolution and YResolution. These are the number of pixels per unit of the image width and length. The file you sent had these values set to zero. I will add a check in QTRgui to catch this error. Thanks for sending the file. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen
