I know with my setup the profile that is recommended to send to QTR is NOT GG 2.2 but rather Roy's profile named QTR GREY MATTE PAPER. It is installed in Color Sync folder automatically when using installing the software. I have really nice blacks using this, with custom curves and without. But then I'm on a larger printer and with 6 channels not 7. You should try this and make sure you max black areas read 0 in greyscale photoshop reading. My 0 is really black, I love it and need no more. You really should make a custom curve for a particular paper though for best results in achieving the best subtlety. If all else fails you may try turning off all the QTR curve management by choosing QTR RAW as the curve to see what that does.
