Though not new to it, I'm only now getting more familiar with it, but have you tried increasing the "Ink Limit Adjustment (Shadows) setting at the bottem left corner of QTRGui? That slider will increase (+ settings) or decrease (- settings) the ink density laid down. See the Help files on "Ink Limit".
